A Few Lessons Learned From Dad

1. Do your research. Before making a big purchase, my dad always always always does his research before making the plunge. He knows what a good deal looks like, he goes through all the online customer reviews and he is diligent about following up on rebates! If Dad recommends something, I know it won't fail me.

2. Appreciate the cook. I inherited Dad's appetite, it's true. But, Dad doesn't only like to eat, he makes it known that he likes to eat. And people love to cook for him. By proclaiming a satisfied "mmmmm" after every bite, savoring flavors with the eyes closed, and complimenting the chef on his/her genius, Dad and I increase the chances of being cooked for again. :) Works for us!

3. Bathroom humor is funny. No matter how old you are, farts are funny!!! One of my favorite memories with Dad was in a Fred Meyer. Nats and I were getting our fingers sized (don't remember why...) but we were in the jewelry section with the one sales-woman. Out of nowhere an older gentleman cruised into our area and let go of a nice huge wet one. It was dead silent for about ten seconds - I was trying to hold in my laughter so badly. When I made eye contact with Dad, it was all downhill from there. We were laughing soooo hard. That poor guy.
